NOTICE OF MEETING OF THE

GOVERNING BODY OF

THE CITY OF HAMLIN, TEXAS

 

 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT A REGULAR CALLED MEETING OF THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE ABOVE-NAMED CITY WILL BE HELD ON THE 17th DAY OF FEBRUARY, 2026, AT 6:00 P.M. IN THE HAMLIN INDEPENDENT COLLEGIATE SCHOOL DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION BUILDING, 250 SW AVENUE F, HAMLIN, JONES COUNTY, TEXAS AT WHICH TIME THE FOLLOWING SUBJECTS WILL BE DISCUSSED:

 

AGENDA

 

 

I.  Call Meeting to order, Invocation and Pledges.

 

II.  Roll Call

 

III. Open Forum-Person who sign in between 5:30 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. will be allowed not more than five minutes each to speak to the Council.

*General comments from visitors who have signed in to address the Council.

*Citizens Comments and Receipt of Petitions (At this time, anyone may speak on any matter other than personnel matters or matters under litigation for a length of time not to exceed five (5) minutes.  (No council/board discussion or action can take place on any matter until such matter has been placed on an agenda and posted in accordance with the law).

 

V.  ACTION ITEMS

 

1.      Take appropriate action on the minutes from the previous Regular Meeting on January 20, 2025.

 

2.      Consider and take any necessary action to nominate by resolution adopted by its governing body a candidate to fill the vacancy of Board of Director 2026 – 2027 to the Jones County Appraisal District.

 

3.      Consider and take any necessary action on adopting ORDINANCE NO. 26-001: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HAMLIN, TEXAS, REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 9-164 HEALTH AND SANITATION, CHAPTER 6 IN IT’S ENTIRETY; DEFINING AND ENUMERTING NUISANCES AND PROHIBITING SAME; PROVIDING FOR NOTICE AND ABATEMENT OF NUISANCES; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING A REPEALING CLAUSE; PROVIDING A PENALTY OF A FINE NOT TO EXCEED FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($500.00) FOR EACH OFFENSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

 

4.      Consider and take any necessary action on new utility rates.

 

5.      Consider and take necessary action on allowing AEP to encroach into the city utility easement located at the substation on NE 3rd Street.

 

6.      Consider and take any necessary action on paying off the lease for the milling machine.

 

7.      Consider and take any necessary action on hiring a court clerk.

 

8.      Consider and take any necessary action on adopting a resolution to join the Texas SmartBuy program.

 

9.      Consider and take any necessary action on selling water to commercial sites and projects

VII.  ADJOURN.

 I, the undersigned authority, do certify that the above named notice Meeting of the Governing          Body of the above named City of Hamlin is a true and correct copy of said Notice and that I posted a true and correct of said Notice on the bulletin board in the Police Department and on the front door of City Hall of said City of Hamlin, Texas, a place convenient and readily accessible to the general public at all times and said Notice was posted on February 10, 2026 at 4:00 PM and remained posted continuously for at least 72 hours preceding the scheduled time of said meeting.
