Special Council Meeting Minutes August 11, 2026

August 11, 2026

The Hamlin City Council met for a special meeting on August 11, 2026, at 5:00 P.M.

Those present were City Secretary Tonya Harughty, City Manager Brian Weaver, Councilwoman Shelby Teague, Police Chief Jay Strong, Mayor Tucker Teague, Fire Chief Mark Hernandez, Councilman Ronald Crouch, Councilman Kenneth Williams, Councilwoman Phyllis Lewis, Xavaxian.

Call meeting to order by Mayor Tucker Teague at 5:04 P.M. Invocation and pledge were led by Mayor Tucker Teague.

Roll call: Councilman Kenneth Williams, Councilwoman Phyllis Lewis, Councilman Ronald Crouch, Councilwoman Shelby Teague, Mayor Tucker Teague

Open Forum-Person who sign in between 4:30 P.M. and 5:00 P.M. will be allowed not more than five minutes each to speak to the Council.

No one signed up to speak to the council.

Visitors with appointments: No one with an appointment

ACTION ITEMS

Take appropriate action on the minutes from the previous Regular Meeting on July 20, 2026.

 Councilwoman Shelby Teague made a motion to accept the minutes as written from the previous Regular Meeting on July 20, 2026, seconded by Councilman Kenneth Williams.  All in favor.  Motion carries.

 Budget Workshop.

City Manager Brian Weaver presented the council with a spreadsheet of the budget, which included total profit loss, general fund totals, water fund totals, general fund revenues, sanitation, water fund revenues, administration, police department, animal control/code enforcement, fire department, court, sewer, debt service, bonds.

 Consider and take any necessary action on adopting a tax rate for the 2026-2027 Hamlin budget.

 Councilwoman Phyllis Lewis made a motion to table this item until the next meeting, seconded by Councilwoman Shelby Teague.  All in favor.  Motion carries.

 ADJOURN

 Councilwoman Shelby Teague made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:54 P.M., seconded by Councilman Kenneth Williams.  All in favor.  Motion carries.
